P. Faliszewski and N. Talmon. A Framework for Approval-based Budgeting Methods. Proceedings of the 33rd AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, To appear, 2019.

Summary

The authors introduce a framework for approval-based methods for participartory budgeting. They present a total of nine budgeting methods consisting of three satisfaction functions as a max rule and two different greedy rules. They investigate wether given rules satisfy certain axiomatic properties. In experimental simulations they show for different budgeting scenarios how different budgeting methods prefer items in different price ranges.
